Tremé is America’s oldest neighborhood of free people of color, and home to New Orleans most recognizable cultural legacies: creole architecture, brass bands, second line parades, Black Masking Indians, Voodoo, Congo Square & the origins of Jazz.
The New Orleans African American Museum is located just 3 blocks from the French Quarter, on the site of the city’s first brickyard.

Treme Experience
Must be scheduled and paid for at least 72 hours in advance
Treme Experience offers a half day and full day tourist experience in New Orleans (historically called Bulbancha before colonization) now known as Treme neighborhood, the oldest neighborhood of free people of color in the United States. A half day begins with a walking tour starting at Congo Square in Armstrong Park and stops at Back Street Cultural Museum, St. Augustine Church and Petite Jazz Museum ending at the New Orleans African American Museum and lunch at Lil Dizzy’s or catered by Lil Dizzy’s at the NOAAM.
Half Day : $100pp includes lunch and tour guide
For a full day Treme Experience take a walk down the 5,000 year old Chitamacha trail (Bayou Road ) to visit Le Musee de Free People of Color, Katrina Memorial Museum and finally supporting the shops along Bayou Road and dining along the Bayou including Half Shell and Coco Hut.
Full Day: $200pp includes lunch, dinner and tour guide
