Archival Fellow
Reports to: Executive Director, Lead Research Associate
Part time (up to 20 hours)
The New Orleans African American Museum is in search of a fellow to work in our Research and Archives Department for the Fall semester. This position requires a highly detailed and very organized person who is extremely professional, likes problem solving in a start-up environment and is a system's thinker. Experience working in museum or arts nonprofits helpful but not necessary.
Scope of work
Assist with registering all of the museum’s archives and implementation of archival process
Registering the museum’s archives digitally
Create a final project to be presented at the end of the fellowship that showcases the museum’s archives from the fellow’s perspective
Attend weekly Staff Meetings and provide updates on progress in the Archives Department
Archival Fellow requirements
Current candidate for Museum Studies, Art History/History, African American Studies or Arts Administration degree
Google Suite, video conferencing, Excel
Experience working in archives, research, or collections departments
Excellent communication, verbal and written skills
Time and compensation
$1200 - $400 per month
Academic credit
10-20 hours per week
