Join us for Young Audiences Baby Artsplay!TM Presented by The Helis Foundation. Our newly expanded program offers an opportunity for young children and their caregivers to enjoy an educational, yet fun-filled trip to the museum. Hosted by eight cultural institutions around the city, Baby Artsplay!TM provides engaging activities designed to instruct parents, caregivers, and early childhood teachers in how to use the arts at home, school, and daycare to promote early learning.
Research shows that multi-sensory approaches to learning help young learners create deeper, more meaningful connections with content. Our 30-minute workshops allow children to explore, observe and investigate their world and the museum through song, dance and movement experiences. Workshops cover six key themes in early childhood development:
Motor Skills- grasping, holding, pouring, scooping, turning pages.
Movement- running, jumping, climbing.
Language - singing, talking
Sensory- Texture and Colors
Spacial Awareness- directions, up, down, around, under
My Body- understanding body parts and how they work
Workshops are conducted by a diverse group of certified Louisiana Wolf Trap Artists, who have expertly crafted multi-sensory experiences that foster children’s natural curiosity for learning. Children and their caregivers will leave each session with a Connections Card exploring how workshop activities can be continued at home. Caregivers are encouraged to attend each of six workshops in a series.
